I'm going to use an external oil filter; I bought an Earl's remote oil filter from Summit Racing. The billet aluminum device resulted in the filter being too close to the firewall. I added .25 inch of clearance and drilled a lightening hole in the billet firewall attach portion. I also made a sandwich doubler of .063 to mount it to the firewall so as to prevent too much load on the thin stainless firewall.
