I welded the fuel tank sender flanges, ground tabs, and fuel filler necks. Midway through the process, I got to thinking that I may have screwed up the fuel vent plumbing. So I pulled the diagram that I'd written three years ago, and although I had checked it before starting the vent plumbing, I had in fact ran the plumbing wrong. Basically, I wanted the vents to come off the tanks inboard, not outboard. So, I welded new inboard flanges on these, the left tanks prior to rerouting the vent plumbing. After the welding, I flushed the tanks with water and detergent to get rid of some of the shavings, and then lightly alodined the the tanks after scuffing with alkaline detergent. I determined the fuel tank sender float lengths, which turned out to 3.5 inches for the main and 4.0 inches for the aux tank. I inserted the senders, clocked them to achieve full travel and installed them, and pressure tested the tanks. No leaks.
