Rudder lower fairing |
|
|
I'm actually off the manual here because I'm making the fairing removable. So I clecoed every other hole and drilled the open holes for #6 screws. Then, because I couldn't cleco the new holes, I needed to install the screws so I could continue. So I dimpled the new holes, used platenuts as drill guides in the fairing, and then drilled #40 for the platenuts. Next I countersunk for the rivets and then riveted the platenuts on. Using the platenuts as a guide for a #40 piloted countersink, I countersunk for the screws, then attached the fairing using screws before drilling out the remaining holes. I dimpled the new holes in the rudder and then, before I could continue, the adjustable set on the hand squeezer broke, so I quit for the day. Rivet count: 20 (0 redo, 490 total redone) Total: 15921 - Plus 549 done at Van's |
