HS Tip Fairings |
|
|
This took a few days with stopping for epoxy curing over night each evening, but not much shop time. I installed polyisocyanurate foam in the aft ends of the HS tip fairings to give me a way to contour the shape to follow the swing of the elevator counterweight. I sanded it using the counterweight as a sanding block with the sandpaper built up to the gap I wanted to create (pic 1). I then laid-up two layers of 9oz e-glass for strength (pic 2). The third photo shows the top view of both fairings installed. It needs to be scotch-brited and primed, but that won't happen until just be fore final painting. |
