The Light Aircraft Association (LAA) is the organisation in the UK that oversees homebuilding Projects, under a delegation from the Regulator - the Civil Aviation Authority. The Build Book is a formal record of inspections and progress - it's therefore a vital document. For the £300 registration fee, you also get access to LAA Engineering advice and you're also provided with a Project Folder, specific to your kit type, with ADs, type specific limitations and information and all sorts of other handy info.
