Cut Oil Door in Top Cowl |
|
|
The cowl is supplied with a seperate fiberglass, pre-molded lid for the oild door. I cut the opening in the cowl for the lid, and the carefully sanded in a recess around the lid so it will lay flush. I actually sanded through in a couple corners, so a layed up a couple layers of fiberglass on the inside of the cowl as a backing to the perimter of the oil door. The fiberglass door is a bit flimsy itself, so i used the piece that i removed as a backer plate, scuffed and epoxied it to the fiberglass door. So far it is a good fit. Next on this will be the hinge and latch mechanism. |
