Gear Leg Fairing Hose Clamp Attach |
|
|
The gear leg fairings are held to the gear leg via hose clamp. To do so, you need to cut some notches in the fairing, vreating a "finger" for the hose clamp to grasp, holding it to the gear leg. It is obvious that this remainging finger is not very robust and would likely break. So, I fabricated some "T" shaped aluminum reinforcing plates. The leg on the T matches the finger. I mixed up some epoxy and and bonded the reingforcing plate to the fiberglass, followed by a couple rivets, off to the sides. Now the hose clamp will be grabbing a piece of fiberglass that is backed up by this aluminum plate. (the gear fairings are also held in place by the upper and lower transition fairings) |
