Dimpler Table Risers |
|
|
With the task ahead of dimpling the field "middle" of the horizontal stabilizer skins ahead of me I decided to take a minute to build some riser tables to place on either side of the dimpler. I figured this would help support the skin rather than me try to manhandle and support them while wacking the dimpler... I made these out of some leftover 3/4" plywood and 2x4's. They are 2'-0" x 3'-0" x 2-1/4" tall. This puts the tops 1/8" below the horizontal surface of my 3/32" dimple die in my Avery dimpler. I would assume you would never want the adjacent tables higher than the dimple surface or you may get a big nasty dent in your skin.... i was even nervous attempting to make it flush, therefore i leaned towards having the dimple on the positive side of level. The 2x4 and 3/4 ply made a perfect fit. The riser tables and dimpler are "loose" laid on support table so i am able to quickly reconfigure them, as my space is limited. I was pleased with the dimpling results. |
