Inboard Aileron Hinge Mounts |
|
|
Jig fell out of vice while I was welding. Did not notice that the upper jig arm bent slightly until after I was finished welding. Had to removed hinge mount from jig, repair jib, put hinge mount back in jig and heat tubes to plastic to get proper alignment. Corrected for weld shrinkage but still shrank 1/16". Finished first inboard aileron hinge mount. This was the most difficult part for me to make. Next one should be done well under 7 hours ( as Wayne says, "rookie factor" ). I can see how the Bearhawk could be finished in under 3 years if you work an average of 15 hours/week. I've put 53.5 hours in this month and have made much progress. 18 months into project and is still fun. Don't know if I can keep up this pace though. Having difficutly locating 8' brake. Local chapter tech counselors don't know where one is. There is a A&P school in Dallas that the Sportair Workshops are held at. May call and see if I can use their's. |
