Paint Wingtips / 2nd Engine Start / Bungee / Paint |
|
|
I found the paint I wanted for all the fiberglass, but I'm not thrilled with it. Lots of mottled areas. I'm hoping that once I sand it down and clear-coat it that a lot of the mottle will go away. Next, I had previously installed one end on the elevator bungee cord (this keeps the elevator in neutral position at rest). Now that the controls are installed, I could connect it to the control stick assy. Pulled it to the point where it would support the elevator, marked, and cut to length. Installed the end piece, tied a knot in it, then crimped-on the retainer clip. Installed. I had wanted a 2nd engine run before I riveted the control panel to ensure that I had no radio static after working to space-out the RF and data cables under the panel. All worked OK, so I can now rivet the panel and finish up the fwd fuselage. I also adjusted the mixture on the carb; the first start, it was obvious it was running quite rich, as it stumbled until I leaned it at idle. I adjusted the mixture about 1/3 turn lean. Still not running right, but I can tackle that after I finish the panel and windshield. Lastly, I had previously painted the fwd windshield bow, but in all the fitting work with the windshield and canopy, it got banged up a bit. I masked everything off, then re-sprayed it. |
