Well, a lot has happened, but a lot hasn't happened. If that makes any sense Over the past two weeks, I removed all remaining inspection covers in preparation for airworthiness inspection. I replaced the ELT batteries; technically I didn't HAVE to, but since they expired March 2013 I figured I'd just go ahead and do it. Fortunately they were Duracells, so it was off to Lowes for new ones. Cleaned things up, etc. With the cowl off, I trimmed the one remaining area where it was rubbing on the fuselage, so that should be cleared up. I also installed the retention clips on the back of the Southco fasteners, since it was obvious they fit OK. On June 11th, I received my airworthiness inspection and passed! I then refueled it, since all fuel had been drained in prep for W&B last week (also received my transponder certification). Fuel was added 1 gal at a time; since my can was only 5 gals, had to make several trips to the pump. After every 2 gals were added, I calibrated the EFIS, and also calibrated my wooden dowel dipstick. I then reinstalled all inspection covers. I also installed the upholstery - this required the installation of velcro self-adhesive strips to the seat pan. Ran the engine again to determine if further adjustments will be required. I could probably fly with it, but I can't resist the urge to tinker, so I'll take another shot at it. Gettin' close, folks... |
