Main Spar Mating |
|
|
Mated the spars today. As part of the initial spar buildup, once complete, you mate the spars together to ensure the flush sides fit together w/o any interferance from bolts, HW, etc. Then, you clamp them together in the mated position, and drill 5 holes to 1/4". Three holes in the center of the spar are alignment holes, and serve to keep the spars together. There are 2 additional holes, one on each end, that are drilled thru the SNX-W11-02 wing attach block assemblies. These will ultimately be up-drilled to 3/8" to fasten them to the fuselage during the wing rigging phase. During the drilling, one of the wing attachment blocks had its hole elongated to a bit more of a shape than I thought would be removed during the future up-drill to 3/8". Re-fabricated that block, and re-drilled to 1/4". Hole is now straight, i..e., not elongated, but is not dead-center where it comes out the bottom of the block. Have asked Sonex whether it's that far off or not. |
