Hinge Work - Main Gear Leg Fairings |
|
|
Drilled pilot holes in 4 hinge pieces for attachment to leg fairings. Took stock of remaining hinge and hinge pin material, since I still have to fab 2 new hinge pins for the lower aft portion of the engine cowl (used seat pins during test fitting). Up to this point, I had not cut the flap and aileron hinge pins to length, so I researched the plans, determined the correct lengths, and cut 4 lengths. I then marked the set-back for the hinges to be installed on the leg fairings, and drilled/cleco'd the first hinge on each fairing. I then installed the 2nd piece of the hinge and taped the fairing edges together. I used a blind hole locator to drill two pilot holes, establishing the position of the second hinge section. Finished drilling. |
