Updrilling / Countersinking Cowl Hinge Rivet holes |
|
|
Nothing difficult tonight, just tedious. Today was our Chapter's Young Eagles day, along with International Learn to Fly Day. Unfortunately, low fog (100-300 AGL) prevented any flying. A few families showed up anyway and we used our Wendt project in the hangar to explain aircraft construction to them. Then, once returned home, I was going to backwash the pool filter, including opening up the filter to do the royal flush on it. Unfortunately, some of the filter elements were damaged, so I had to go buy new ones. Puttng them back together is a real bear of a job; that took up the remainder of the afternoon. Tonight all I accomplished was up-drilling all cowl hinge rivet holes to #30, then countersinking using a #30x120 degree countersink in my microstop. Removed everything, cleaned up the hinge holes to deburr (along with the fiberglass), and cleco'd back together. |
