Garage upgrade |

So I mentioned before there is a lot of work to do before I plunk down $4K for the empennage kit. The first order of business is to convert my garage into a viable work space for the build. There are some cabinets on the wall that must come down to give me the space I need. I can dedicate half of the garage space to the build, but I need to keep my car in the garage as our HOA won't allow me to park elsewhere. Losing the cabinets puts a dent in my storage space, so I'm going to get some overhead storage installed. That will further maximize my limited floor space by getting completed assemblies (wings, vertical/horizontal surfaces) up out of the way as well as providing storage for bulkier detail parts that may not fit on my ground level storage shelves. I found a good contractor that can not only install the overhead storage, but put down an epoxy floor as well. The cost of the floor was cheaper than I thought and adds to the value of the home. I'll also get a fresh coat of paint on the walls and ceiling. I may add an additional electrical outlet if required. |
