Left Hand Door Epoxying 2 halves |
|
|
Today Dad and I worked on getting the two door halves together on the left door to start with. It uses the epoxy that I purchased and also this type of fiberglass called paraben. It is really cool and basically a 3D glass weave. I used a glass panel to help wet up the glass, (just like I did with the overhead consol construction) and this worked well. I had to mix two distinctly different epoxy mixtures. One was a straight epoxy to basically "wet" the surfaces and the paraben, the other a thickened mixture of milled glass and aerosil (Cabosil by diferent manufacturer). Due to the amount of work required to be completed I needed to proceed very quickly so the epoxy did not go off. I completed one of the doors and pinned it all together with clamps and even luggage straps. Even after all of this, I still had some areas of the skins that we not quite mate correctly and need to be adjusted. |
