After much thought (and insistence on the part of the Admiral), I have decided to re-mortar the wall behind where the Smithy will sit. It makes sense as I'm sure I will not want to move a 500 lb. machine once I get it in the basement. This project took most of the weekend, including the old-school whitewashing of the walls
