Have researched a bit more about the FHC and have discovered the geometry of the "J" hinge works best when it is mounted as high as possible. Moved the upper part of the front of the hinge as close to the ultimate skin I can and examine. Hinge geometry now works, and no packing required. Interesting. Geometry of gas struts not affected.
