Cheated. Needed some BID-like stuff for a new antenna mast for my base station, to be trialled at the Wings Over Illawarra airshow. Bought a couple of meters of 300gsm 2+2 fibreglass from a boating shop. Looks like BID, but feels completely different, and has a more open weave. Won't use it for any aeroplane structure. Alternated layers of 2+2 discs over the end of the foam cans with wraps around the outside. Ended up with 3 x 2+2 over all, with lots of overlaps.
