Fitting Canard rear tabs |
|
|
Trimmed pads and drilled F-22 to match tabs. Temporarily fitted Canard with AN3-12 bolts, 2 wide area washers and 4 AN960-10. Cut the rear tabs from 1/4" hoop pine ply. Had to adjust the outer corners to match the curve of the Fuselage sides. Inserted the pins, sat a wide area washer 1/16" thick over each pin then placed on the rear tabs, fixing with 5-min epoxy with some flox mixed in. As the epoxy is going off realise it will be a bitch to profile, so mash in a couple of round biros to get the profile right-ish now. After cure remove the pins, and clean up the 5-min a bit, after getting the biros off with difficulty... Layup 5 x BID over the rear tabs, and 1.5" onto Canard and peel ply. Is nice and warm in the shed on completion, but a cold night is forecast so set up the heater. Seemed a bit of a waste of energy seeing it was still 20 degrees, but didn't want to trust my memory to remember to turn it on later. Have a brain wave and go get the leftover thermostat I have for the fibreglass cuboard I never built and set it up under the heat tent, and plug in the fan heater. IT can remember to turn the heater on! |
