TIP: Double Sided Carpet Tape |
|
|
UPDATE: I learned the hard way that this is a very BAD idea in warmer temps - as in the garage in summer. The adhesive turns to jelly and gets very slippery. Working in cooler temperatures it can help. But be real cautious! ORIGINAL POST: Seems like no matter how hard I try to clamp two slippery aluminum pieces together before drilling, they always seem to move just slightly. And they can be a bear to hold in position just to clamp them. The ANSWER, my friends, is DOUBLE-SIDED CARPET TAPE! Got a roll at Ace Hardware (SKU 50106). It makes it much easier to position pieces accurately, and they hold still while clamping and drilling. Why didn't I do this sooner!? P.S. - Duct Tape is a good helping hand, too. For instance, to hold fiberglass tips in position prior to drilling. |
