Milled the right counterbalance weight |
|
|
Today I went on the road and brought the right counterbalance weight to be milled to remove excess led so that it would properly counterbalance the elevator I did this with my A&P's Mill at the airport today. This was fun to do. I have a pic of the mill as well as the before and after pictures of the weight. You can see that after I had milled out the counterbalance there was an air bubble in the weight from its original casting in the die where is was manufactured. Luckily I kept all the lead shaving from the milling procedure. I then melted the lead over a propane burner and poured the molten lead int this defect and smoothed it to mirror finish. It came out perfect. |
