After glassing the outside of the spliced skirts I riveted the splice plate to the inside. I should have riveted the plates in before glassing but originally I had planned on using the plates only as a temporary reinforcement. I decided later to rivet them permanently. Once the glass cures I will put the skirt inplace and begin working on the canopy rail cutout and the final glassing of the spliced area. It needs some filler, sanding and 1-2 layers of glass cloth. When installing the splice plate on the inside it was attached with resin and rivets. I don't think it will be necesary to add any glass cloth ove rthe metal. but we will see.
