Couple new items acquired for cockpit |

Don McNamara, a fellow RV-8 builder, recently visited my shop and suggested that some handholds on the canopy support/roll bar would make entering and exiting the aircraft easier without the risk of damaging the windscreen. After sitting in an RV-8 recently I decided he was quite right so I ordered a pair of handholds from Aircraft Extras. I also purchased a pair of aircraft rear view mirrors found on Ebay. These mirrors are USAF surplus and likely came out of a fighter type aircraft. I will have to fabricate a couple brackets to attach them to the canopy support/roll bar but that should not be too difficult. I plan to mount them on the left and right side of the cockpit just below the handholds. Afterall, got to see who might be on your six. |
