Finished aileron trim components |
|
|
I installed the mounting parts of the electric aileron kit while assembling the floor of the cockpit. Since Connie was unavailable for riveting today I decided to finish up the final components. There were only a few items left. First, the push/pull tube had to be fabricated. This involved cutting the tube to length, drilling some 1/8" holes at precise locations, cutting a 1/8" wide slot in one end for attachment to the servo, and enlarging a plastic bushing to fit the tube. Drilling the holes was relatively easy using a drill press and V shaped jig to hold the tube steady and centered. The slot took longer and required a careful cut with a bandsaw, additional metal removal with a Dremel sanding disk, and final finishing with a jewelers file. It turned out good. Final installation in the aircraft should be quick except for the wiring. |
