Reconfigure workbench/jig for riveting |
|
|
The shop manual suggests flipping the fuselage and supporting it on two sawhorses. I have also seen some builders suggest rotisserie devices to allow the fuselage to be positioned at almost any angle to ease the riveting process. Since I have the original jig structure which was converted to a long workbench for much of the fuselage work, I decided to convert it once again to its former jig configuration. Once I have the fuselage placed on the frame inverted I will probably remove 2-3 of the intermediate cross-members to allow easier access from underneath. After completing the jig work I spent some time cleaning the workshop. I had a couple wood projects over the holiday period so some tools needed to be stored away and the saw dust cleaned up. Now I need to get my number one son to drop by and help me flip the fuselage and set it on the jig without dinging the structure. |
