Initial work for rear throttle installation |
|
|
I ordered the drawings for the rear throttle installation a few weeks ago. Today the suppllied templates were cut and clecoed to the fuselage bulkhead components. A pilot 1/4" hole was drilled in each member for the push-pull rod that will eventually tie the forward and rear throttle levers together. A slot had to be cut in one of the arm rest parts (refer to image 1 below). Pilot holes were prepunched to designate the ends of the slot. I clamped a piece of aluminum angle between the holes to use as a guide for the cutting wheel on my Dremel tool. To get the required 3/16" width, I had to make two cuts and clean them up with a file. It took some time but the resulting slot looks good. Later in the build process when the throttle components arrive, I will complete the install per the instructions. |
