The final weight with oil and full carpet tipped the scales at 1228 lbs! Oh my. Van's recommended empty weight is 1130, so I'm a good bit over! Good thing I got the big engine! I've seen RV-8's surfing around the Web at around 1170, and those were the people that admitted to it. So, it ain't light, but its full-featured (avionics, oxygen, interior) and will be a very comfortable long-haul cruiser, which is exactly what I was after.
