Brief Description:    Prepping the rudder skeleton
With the right elevator skin on hold I moved back to the rudder now that I have successfully navigated (third time lucky) the edge distances on R-710. Spent the evening deburring, scotchbriting, edge finishing and dimpling the rudder skeleton.

I have made one modification to the structure which is not my overall intention as I intend to stick to the plans absolutely (excluding the plan errors). In image 3 there are two holes in the middle of the rudder horn which also appear on the backing plate but according to the plans these are not drilled through. I looked this up on Vansairforce and one of the Vans employees on there said it was because that part is utilised on several different RV types. Having read other people did this and seeing no edge distance or other compromise I enlarged the R-717 skim to provide good edge distance around the holes and not to conflict with the bottom of 704 and drilled them. It will look better now and not have people asking why I forgot to drill and insert two rivets on inspection!

In other good news the C yoke is actually somewhere in Australia now so hopefully I can finish the horizontal stabiliser off when it eventually arrives!
