Right wing top skins part #5 |
|
|
Bit of a marathon today. Started by clecoing the skins in every other hole and made sure the scarf joint was good. I had my daughter Lauren come in and help me buck the rivets. I had an extended off-set back rivet set and Lauren used the bucking bar so that we could back rivet the skins. We started on the outboard edge and moved our way in. I had all of the rivets set in place and held in place with a piece of scotch tape. Lauren decided that she would mark every one that she bucked with a red X so she knew where she was at. After bucking every second rivet, Lauren removed the clecoes and I had her insert the appropriate rivets, which were coverd with tape. My yongest Christina lent a hand with that as well. We took a break as she was getting tired and some of the rivets had to be drilled out as they weren't completely flush. No biggie. I took the time to squeeze in most of the trailing edge rivets to rear spar. The first few inboard rivets had to be bucked. |
