With Judy's help we finished buttoning up the tailcone upper skin to the cabin cover. I really couldn't have doen it without Judy being willing to crawl back into the aft fuse and buck rivets. she's still able to move in way's that have long eluded me! We had a couple of slips w/ bucking bar, that we'll fix w/ filler. We basically started on the Left side and worked out way over and around to the right finishing up with the row of rivets on the longeron on the right side. I had to remove and reinstall the bolts connecting the longerons and also the bolts connecting the AHRS mounting angles. And also had to disconnect the scat tube temporarilly so Judy could reach some of the tight places. The good news is that dispite our being rusty w/ the riveting and a couple of slips, we didn't have to drill out a single rivet !!!!!! WOOHOO !!!!! So Now the Fun begins !!!!!!! Sand/Fill, Sand/Fill, Sand/Fill ................................ paint prep for the cabin cover and fuse. |
