Picked up some more Epoxy rattle can's this am, and then finished painting the inside of the upper cowl. Then I mixed up a couple of OZ. Of Smooth Prime. and drubed a little on the upper cowl, and used an old credit card to fill the pinholes in the build-up of filler. Sanded that flush, then used a small sponge roller to roll on several aditional coats to cover the build-up area. I also reapplied some to the spinner ring of the lower cowl. when it was all dried, I sanded it all with 220 grit, While I was waiting for the primer to dry, I began to make a replacement for the overhead console close-out piece. The one that shipped from Accuracy has a SERIOUS twist to it, I've tried heating it and putting wieghts on it to take the twist out, but it hasn't worked. So, i'm going to try and make a replacment out of Alum. I have some .032 and some .090, I started with the .032, and traced the outline of the fiberglass piece on it and cut it out with the snips and then filed and sanded the edges. I clecoe clamped the pieces together and then match drilled #40 the existing holes in the fiberglass into the alum piece and clecoed as I went. My plan is to use this close out as a mounting platform for the O2 manifold, provided there's enough room/clearance to do it. We'll see how it all works out.
