Back from So Cal, and back @ the project. Today's task was to fabricate the aft linkage to the door pin and the latch. I used the same design only longer that I used for the front pin/latch. It wen pretty much the same, lots of takeing the assembly in and out , trial and error fitting, cutting, sanding etc. but it seems to work pretty well. After getting everything fit and tested, i drilled some 1/2" lightening holes in both pieces, since they are substantially heavier than Van's standard parts. i probably could have lightened them up a little more, but better safe than sorry. Next tast was to tap both of the right door pins w/ 5/16 24 threads. then I cut a 3" bolt and tapered the end per Van's directions, and inserted them into their respective l=pins. these 'center-points' are used to locate the door pin recpticles on the door frame. I got a call from John Ackerman, and -10 builder from Prescott he's going to be helping his Daughters family for several weeks and wanted to know if I needed/wanted any help..... Boy, what a Godsend!!! He's going to drop by when he gets his grandkids off to school this week. Yippee!!!!!
