Finished layup, assembled wheels. |

Warmed things up, mixed epoxy, and layed down the first ply of the fiberglass across the front of the bubble. While that was starting to cure I unwrapped the main wheels and brakes and disassembled them. Started assembling the wheels with the tubes and tires. When Ply 1 got tacky I began the rest of the layup. Did all ten, even the 1/4" piece (don't ask how many pieces it was in), then returned to the wheels and completed them. Washed and dried the main wheel bearings. In the remaining time I gathered the parts for mounting the main gear legs, and dry assembled them. Had to run a drill through some of the holes, especially in the powder coated ones. Stopped at the FBO in the late afternoon and greased the wheel bearings with #22 grease, and picked up a couple of cotter keys that were missing. |
