Flew J3 lesson and Bonanza test flight before noon. Decided to extend the bulge further forward to provide more clearance for the #2 header pipe. I don't want to end up with a burned spot in the cowl from too much heat. That would be a difficult repair after everything is bonded together. Better to bite the bullet now. Cut the groove a couple of inches more towards the front, fiberglassed, heat cured, and coated with micro-balloon filler. Tomorrow I'll sand it down and hopefully finish work on the cowling. This has been a project in itself! Worked a bit on the canopy fiberglass fairing. My half-price Koger Sunshade arrved today. |
