Brief Description:  Aft Fuselage 14 - Pitch Servo bracket

I wanted to install the bracket that mounts the pitch servo for the autopilot before riveting the aft fuselage together. Although all that is really needed at this point is to get the required holes into the bottom skin drilled and dimpled as the 706 bulkhead doesn’t get riveted in until the mid and aft fuselage assemblies are joined.

I went with the Dynon kit because at this point I think I will be using them for most of the avionics and related equipment, and they are local, so I don’t need to pay or wait for shipping. The kit is pretty simple. One bracket and some hardware for tying in to the elevator bellcrank. $75 seems like a bit much for this but there you are.

The installation drawing gives you one dimension for locating the servo bracket 4.38” aft of the elevator bellcrank pivot point on the bellcrank rib (F729A). I marked a couple lines for measuring on the bellcrank rib. I had to drill out three rivets to pick up the new bracket. The Dynon directions leave it up to you for attaching the bracket and even state that the lower bracket flange can be trimmed off if you don’t want to attach it to the bottom skin. I went with two rows of four equally spaced holes (in addition to the three drilled out rivet holes) and four holes on the bottom flange. I then match drilled the holes, deburred and dimpled.
