Brief Description: Aft Fuselage 7 - Finish up drilling
Ok, a few miscellaneous drilling tasks remain.
I decided to go with an internal delrin rudder stop as an alternative to the Vans external rudder stops. I think you can either buy them or make your own. I can't find a good link to this right now. That left three holes I needed to locate and drill #40 like the other aft skin holes. I clamped a flexible drafting protractor to the existing holes and marked the new hole locations.
The lower stringer requires a shim where the tail cone and side skins meet. There is a gap at this location. I used a piece of 0.032" from scrap pile. It picks up two of the stringer holes. I also tapered it some to get a good fit.
Marking for holes where rudder stop is supposed to go
Marked and drilled
Tough to see, but a tapered shim is in between the skin and stringer
