Brief Description:  Rudder Stiffeners

I got the stiffener stock out and rudder skins
I studied the drawing and stock for fabricating the rudder stiffeners. All of the stiffeners have the same taper on one end as shown on the drawing. Then, the over all length of the stiffener varies based on location (ie stiffener part no. A,B,C, etc).
I decided to work the taper step for each stiffener and then the length and labeling.
I did 2 of the 16 to start and get a process down. Then went into production mode on the rest of them
First, mark the line, then cut the taper line with the band saw, clean up with the tin snips, hand file the rough edges, use the bench sander for the cut edges, and then finish with the scotchbrite wheel.
I got all but a few of the stiffener tapers done, and then headed out about 3pm for some fun. Flew Pauline, Mark, and Erin up to Orcas (KORS) for dinner in the C182. Met a nice couple camping at the airport that had come all the way from Florida in a C170! Nice folks, they gave us a ride into town in a car they were borrowing from a local friend. They had been making there way around the country for about three weeks. It will be great to retire and do the same one of these days.
