Brief Description:  HS wrap up

-No progress for awhile. Five day vacation in Idaho over the July 4th weekend with the family. Hectic week at work after vacation catching up. Flew N9537 back to KSZT (240 nm each way) for the 7/9-10 weekend to pick up Pauline and Luna and bring them back home. Dr Bird was celebrating his 90th birthday with a fly in and Inventor’s conference at his compound on Saturday. The highlight for me was a short conversation and a autograph from Bob Hoover! John and Martha Stewart were in attendance as well as Clay Lacy and a bunch of other famous folks. Burt Rutan wasn’t part of the show, but I saw him walking around like the rest of us! Pauline gave me a hard time about not going up and talking to him. Dr. Bird always puts on a good show!
-So the HS was sitting all ready to go for riveting from my last work night on 6/27. All the remaining rivets are squeezer accessible. Not being able to get the stationary die of my pneumatic squeezer on the manufactured head of the flush rivets, I was unwilling to go at it with the squeezer alone. I was afraid I wouldn’t get the head flush with the skin in the dimple. So, I started out setting the rivets with the rivet gun, and then coming back with the squeezer to finish them off. Pauline came down and helped with the clecos. I need to make a post to Vans Airforce on squeezer technique and see if I can skip the step of first setting the rivets with the rivet gun and bucking bar. Someone must know how to do it…
