Brief Description:  HS Spar Riveting

-Clecoed, then riveted HS707 to the skin
-Clecoed in the front spar assembly/left side HS, and HS708 rib.
-Kevin & Dave stopped by for the factory tour and to help finish off the keg of Mac & Jacks from Father’s day. Got to explain what I was up to and show off the new tools. This is the first time either of them had been by. I kept working while they hung out.
-Pulled the three pop rivets that attach HS708 rib, HS702 front spar, and HS707 rib
-I used the rivet gun to attach the end rib (HS706) to the front spar with two AN470 rivets. Put a smiley in one of them. Need to really keep an eye on the AN rivet gun head to keep it from bouncing.
-Got all the flush rivets in on the bottom of the right side while my guests were there. Had to rivet ‘lefty” on a bunch of them. Came out OK, but it was a slower process.
-Flipped it over and riveted the top side flush rivets.
-Sprayed some primer into the cavities on both sides to try and cover up some of the scratches I put in with the bucking bar.
-Started clecoing on the rear spar assembly when I noticed that I mistakenly had already riveted the holes that are needed to attach the HS408 rib to the rear spar. Looking at the drawings again I discovered the source of my error. Just outboard of the center elevator bearing assembly the plans call for match drilling holes to attach the HS to the fuselage (done later). I was counting those when I marked the holes not to rivet when assembling the rear spar. Hence, I need to take those 4 rivets out and fill the holes next to them before I can attach the rear spar assembly. I didn’t get a picture of this.
