Brief Description:  Pulled

-Avoiding the shop, I sanded out the last coat of varnish on the new pantry, trim, and Dutch Door. Patched up Luna’s latest assault on the dry wall in the mud room. Put a new coat of varnish on everything.
-Headed back to the shop. Given my demonstrated riveting performance from last weekend, I’ve been wondering if I’m really up for this project. I was thinking I should get out some scrap and do some rivet gun practice. I couldn’t get motivated with all these airplane parts laying on the workbench, so I went back to the plans.
-Clecoed in the front spar assembly, and HS708 rib.
-Pulled the three pop rivets that attach HS708 rib, HS702 front spar, and HS707 rib. It took a few pulls on each to get the rivet set and the nail extracted. I wasn’t expecting that. I was being super cautious since this didn’t look like an easy place to drill them out if I screwed them up. I had managed to mess one up on the practice kit tool box – wasn’t seated against the surface.
-I turned the air compressor regulator down to about 50psi (from 90) per the advice in the Van’s forum mentioned earlier. I used the rivet gun to attach the end rib (HS706) to the front spar with two AN470 rivets. Screwed them both up. Smiley’s in each. Even managed to dent the rib by bouncing the gun off the manufactured head! The Van’s riveting guide said a smiley is OK, so they stayed. I really need to pay attention to the rivet gun while riveting!
