Brief Description:  Radio wiring, Instrument pod

Placed the instrument panel into the pod and used the camera to reach inside the pod and take pictures of the back side of the panel to check clearance of the mounting tabs. Found that two of the tabs needed a little trimmed off the corners.

Routed the push to talk wires from the radio harness up into the cyclic stick, trying several different attach points achieve a loop in the wire that allows full movement without snagging in the cyclic joint. Placed a short piece of sleeving over the wire where it enters the joint to help protect from chaffing.

Sat in the seat with the headset on to determine a good location for the headset jacks. Decided to place them over my right shoulder. Marked and drilled the two holes, installed the Mic and Phones jacks. Routed the wires to the back side of the jacks, secured them to the jacks with zip ties and soldered.

Plugged the harness into the radio and attached the antenna, stripped the ends of the PTT wires, powered up the radio and tested operation of the radio, listened to the AWOS, used the bared PTT wires to transmit and listen on the scanner.

Installed the cyclic stick and grip then sat in the seat to determine the most comfortable angle for the grip. Marked the location and will drill the bolt hole at home on the drill press.
