Brief Description:  Throttle potentiometer

Picked up the throttle potentiometer from the kit manufacturer rep (Blake) this past weekend at the Central Sierra Helicopter Meet in California, along with an optional, machined aluminum cap that covers the terminals and wires on the back of the pot.

The pot came with an aluminum ring that acts as a bushing to fit the pot into the holder at the back end of the collective tube. I used sandpaper to scuff the outer edge of the pot and the inside of the ring, then glued the ring onto the pot using thick CA glue,aligning the back of the pot flush with the edge of the ring per the instructions that came with the pot.

The pot is then held in place via three set screws that tighten against the aluminum ring and a single set screw secures the 1/4" shaft in an aluminum collar that ties it to the 3/8" steel tube running down the collective tube from the throttle grip.

Next I labeled the three posts on the pot according to the wiring diagram with their respective lettered connections on the governor to which the three conductor shielded wire is already routed and connected.

Looking back at my pictures of the governor I see that the orange striped wire is connected to J, the Blue striped wires goes to K and the white goes to G.

White = G
Orange = J
Blue = K

The pot gets final positioned during check out so that it has the correct resistance (1.85K Ohm) for my governor at full throttle.
