Brief Description:  Factory Checkout

The factory checkout was 4 days of checking, adjusting, balancing and flying.

Monday covered the check over of cyclic travels, tail drive shaft alignment, tail rotor pitch settings, hood bearing alignment, installing the new rotor/engine tach and finding out I had the wrong plug wired on, setting the governor, first start of the engine, adjusting the fuel control and balancing the tail rotor.

Tuesday was setting up the rotor head, static balancing the main blades, installing the head, hang testing for balance and figuring out how much weight to add to the floor boards for it to balance with Doug in the seat, installing the rotor blades, setting the lead lag, out in the cold for main rotor balancing, more work on getting the tach wired in and the magnet ring installed on the main shaft.

Wednesday finished up the rotor tach install and panel re-install, visit from the DAR and the all important A/W, then lunch, then the first hover, slight adjustment to the trailing edge reflex, install the right door and button up the bottom of the cabin and install the rest of the screws.

Thursday - Doug made the first flight before the wind came up too much, checked tracking - ok, second and third flights, rechecked trailing edge reflex hadn't changed, lunch, Doug went over the maintenance schedule, pre/post flight items, do's and don'ts ect, discussed my first hover and flight to come later when the wind was calm.
