Brief Description:  Seat Belt Inertia Reels Part 4

I want to make sure the position of the inertia reel is compatible with the working area of the shoulder harness itself. So I installed the seat, lap belt and cushion to try it out. I have two thicknesses of cushions and wanted to make sure it will work with both. Sitting on the thick cushion and with the seat positioned where I want to fly, I fastened the harness and had my wife put a piece of white duct tape on the belt right where it comes out of the reel. It was right at where the harness is sown at the top edge. I then leaned forward as far as I could, reaching for the floor and she put a second piece of tape at that location. The blue tape indicates where the harness is when sitting on the thin cushion, which is good. It’s at almost the same spot as the thick cushion when I leaned forward to reach the floor. I think the sown part should be out of the reel, but I want to confirm that with Jim House before I commit and weld tubes in place. I’ll find out Monday.
