Brief Description:  Seat Belt Inertia Reels Part 2

I haven't posted in a few days, but I have been busy. I have spent hours and hours researching the optimum shoulder harness attach points and I am very close to a final design.

I did some completely unscientific measurements with a protractor and a ruler on my computer screen. Measured from the top of the shoulder (like the FAA AC) my reel location would bring the harness in around 30 degrees. The forward mounting point would put it just north of 50 degrees, but inline with my body. Looking at other light aircraft some of their harnesses are as steep, but I don't know if that is a limitation on where they can be effectively mounted on that particular airframe. Airframes Alaska just has a simple tab for Super Cubs.

I did just about all I could at the moment with the fuselage on the table. I decided that it would be much easier to weld the wing mounts and build the skylight mount in the rotisserie. The last lining up I have to do is the drilling of the final spar bolt hole location and the installation of the wing struts. I'll leave that until I get just about everything else done, just in case there is some tweaking to be done. That's also they way it's done when the fuselage comes from the factory...all the fittings are done, just need to attach the wings.
