A great day today! I finally finished the rear seat which brings an end to the seat construction in my Bearhawk. I was pretty nervous because I took the seat frame out of the fuselage to add the diagonals, seat belt attach points and remove/replace the front tube so I could weld the inside of that funky front leg cluster. I just welded away, not periodically checking the fit and not wanting to know if it would fit. I just followed what I had learned so far about assembly and weld sequence and it fit perfect…yeeeha!!!!!
All in all, I couldn’t be happier how the front and rear seats turned out. They are straight, true, symmetrical, fit really well and took a helluva long time to make them that way. It was a really great learning experience and it taught me a lot, but if I were to do it again I would just buy the seats from Bearhawk Aircraft. Don’t know where I’m going next, but I am glad I’m not doing any more seats.
