Brief Description:  Rear Seat Part 1

I started on the rear seat today. Fortunately I have a factory seat from my friend Rob Taylor as an example. The factory seat differs in a few areas, especially the mounting, than what is in the newsletter. I like the idea of putting eyebolts in the floor and use quick disconnect pins for holding the seat in place, so that’s what I will do.

I started by measuring and cutting all the tubing bits and made templates of the sheet metal parts. Once again, it will be a challenge. The seat, at least in the factory configuration, cannot be constructed flat on a table. Even the sides can’t be assembled because the seat back tube extends vertically through the cluster. I wondered about this and why it was done this way, and it makes sense from a seat strength perspective, so that’s how I will do it.
