I had saved a nice data plate that I had received from the Alaska Airmen’s Association. But I found out for an amateur-built aircraft the builder’s name has to be on it. I debated a number of ideas and got many wild (read expensive) estimates from commercial vendors for custom plates. I then turned my attention to a local vendor that does laser engraving. I emailed them my idea and within an hour they came up with a beautiful drawing! They made me two 2in by 3in plates. One out of outdoor sign aluminum (the black one) and one out of .020 stainless that I provided. $8 dollars and a day later I had two very nice plates. It pays to shop local!
