I welded in the new arms, along with some reinforcement. A longtime mechanic suggested I make the arms out of thicker material since the bolt holes would wallow out pretty soon. What I did was cut the ends off the original arms and welded them to the ends of the new arms, doubling the .062 material thickness. The holes drilled in the arms are for paint. I didn’t want to run a weld all the way around just to seal it, so I drilled some holes so I could shoot in some epoxy primer and protect it from rust.
